Your path to becoming an investment banking analyst

Ultimately, entry level analysts hired from SIB can hit the ground running from Day 1 as opposed to Day 90. That’s why top recruiters hire from us…regularly!

PRE-WORK

While no prior knowledge or experience is needed, we require students to complete our online Mid Cap Bundle before the 4 week training begins. This pre-work ensures students are well prepared and able to keep pace with the class.

Our Mid Cap Bundle has a run time of approximately 15 hours and covers the following carefully crafted courses that form a key part of an Analyst’s knowledge base:

Intro to Accounting

Advanced Accounting

Trading Comps

Discounted Cash Flow

Financial Modeling

Transaction Comps

In-Class Training

This is the "taught" phase of the Program and runs for 4 weeks (20 days) online.Training is delivered by our instructors online via live webinars and is accessible from any location. Participants will be expected to have completed all courses in the Mid Cap Bundle before the taught phase begins.

SIB’s Investment Banking immersive moves at a swift pace and participants will be expected to demonstrate a great deal of maturity and drive. The emphasis during the taught phase will be on revision and consolidation of concepts covered during pre-work.

Don’t forget, that you need to score a minimum of 60% on all assessments to qualify for placements.

Placements

We leverage our network and set up recruiter interviews. Placements typically begin in Week 4 and take a couple of weeks. Recruiters usually have a few rounds which takes time.

We can line up a maximum of 3 interviews on a best effort basis

Your own merit is key in being able to convert an interview into a job offer!

content & outline

FAQs

SIB has just introduced a part time program for working professionals. High level details:

Classes on Sat and Sun for 3 hours each

LIVE instructor led classes via webinars

Accessible from any location

Offers job placements

At SIB, we believe in a stakeholder approach where the growth of our Institute is dependent on the growth of our candidates and vice versa. Such principles make it critical to attract the best talent with an appreciation for both the cultural and operational dynamics of the finance industry.

As you are aware, admissions to SIB can only be confirmed after an interview. Stage 1 involves preparing a few simple case studies. Post that, we will have a quick chat with you to discuss your responses.

You don’t need any technical knowledge and certainly don’t need to be a CA, CFA or MBA to succeed on these case studies. We are looking for some crucial skills that are necessary to succeed in the professional world and on SIB’s Programs such as:

Application and aptitude

Ability to figure things out

Analytical skills

Original thought

Overall, it should not take you more than 3-4 hours to prepare for these case studies.

Candidates are typically placed as entry level analysts in job profiles that utilise the core skills we provide on our Programs such as basic research, fundamental analysis, company valuation, financial modelling, report writing, preparation of pitch books etc. These are highly sought after and some of the most competitive jobs to break into. A career in these job profiles is both intellectually stimulating and financially rewarding.

Assessments: First of all, you need to score a minimum of 60% on all assessments to qualify for placements. If that is not the case, then unfortunately there is absolutely nothing we can do for you.

Interviews: Generating even 1 interview requires a great deal of fight and effort from our side. Our role at SIB is to create opportunity, but there is no magic here. You should be crystal clear that converting an interview into a job offer depends on their own merit. We do not guarantee placements. Subject to performance on assessments, we can generate a maximum of 3 interviews for you on a best efforts basis. That’s a lot of interviews. Do you back yourself to convert? Our Alumni have done exceptionally well and you can connect with someone of them right here

Recruiters: Every candidate who signs up for SIB’s immersive is doing so because they want to change their career profile and enter core finance. So for someone looking to make a start and enter this industry, there is no room to pick and choose. All job interviews that we send you for utilise the skills that we have provided on the training program and involve valuation, financial modelling, research etc. So if you are looking for a new start that can make your career go places, you’re certainly in the right place. But if you are someone who wants to work for company XYZ only, then perhaps you should apply to them directly and we wish you all the best! There is absolutely no room to pick and choose among recruiters.

Offer: When you get an offer, you will be expected to pull out from the placement process. Congratulations will be in order then and we wish you all the very best for a high growth career ahead.

The package you get has nothing to do with SIB. It is a function of what you are offering to a recruiter and depends on your own academic and professional background.

Having said that, we have placed candidates with a base salary range of 3 to 15 lacs a year. In addition, candidates have the opportunity to earn a performance related bonus which can be quite substantial for star performers.

We encourage candidates to take a balanced view between job profile and package. Career growth first and foremost begins by being in the right job profile.

Prework: You need to complete the online course diligently before the “taught phase” begins

If you haven't this will impact your performance on the course and eventually on placements as well

Remember, it is not possible for us to spoon feed you

We're a professional training institute and you have to take responsibility for yourself

Understand: You will need to make adjustments to how you learn

In India, there is a system of rote learning i.e. cramming to pass exams

At SIB, you will have to make a big mental shift and focus more on understanding concepts

Tune-In: We have been transforming careers since 2007 and have a very deep insight into what recruiters are looking for. So tune in to the instructions we give you and play close attention.

Reading: If you haven’t picked up the business press yet, it is time to make a start. Interview success depends on it

Placements typically begin in Week 4 and can take anything between 4-12 weeks. Recruiters usually have a few rounds which takes time. Patience is key.
SIB candidates are placed in major financial hubs such as Mumbai, Delhi and other Metros. We encourage candidates to be geographically flexible to the best extent possible.
Candidates who secure 60% on assessments and complete the program successfully will be awarded a SIB completion certificate. Having said that, we encourage candidates to rise above the mind set of “collecting” certificates. What matters is that top Investment Banking, Corporate Finance or Equity Research recruiters hire from SIB regularly. That in itself is the best certification there could be!

Why SIB?

Others What This Means For You SIB
Knowledge Focus more on "degrees" and "certifications" Understand that recruiters are looking for "employable" skills SIB provides cutting edge practical skills that are valued by recruiters
Placements Assistance Claim to provide "100% placement assistance" In reality it means that you're on your own :) We fight hard to market your CV to recruiters and line up interviews. Our track record since 2007 speaks for itself
Job Profiles Any job (even operations) in a bank or finance firm is pedalled as Investment Banking Do your home work. You don't want to be stuck in a job profile that will limit your career growth Our placements are in core finance profiles only which involve Valuation, Financial Modeling, Fundamental Analysis etc
Experience. Impact. Record Unable to deliver outcomes that learners truly want and need With SIB, your career is in safe hands Since 2007, no training provider has delivered rapid transformation in a matter of a few weeks. Career paths of our Alumni is testimony
